Every day in Philadelphia, people get upset with each other for a variety of reasons. Many times, people just engage in a verbal exchange to voice their differences. However, sometimes, people resort to physical means to resolve their differences. When people resort to physical means, they may be charged with an assault. If a weapon was used during the altercation, the person may be facing a more serious assault charge and weapons charges as well.
Two employees of a Philadelphia hospital recently got into an argument, which turned physical. It is unclear what the fight was over, but one employee allegedly stabbed the other employee multiple times. It is unclear what the person used to allegedly stab the other employee. After the incident, the person reportedly ran away and was stopped a short time later by the police. He was charged with assault and weapons charges. The alleged victim is in the hospital in stable condition.
There are a wide range of assault charges. The charges range from misdemeanors to felonies, depending on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, the severity of the injury, whether a weapon was used and others. If a person is convicted of an aggravated assault, which is a felony, they may be facing serious consequences.
Nonetheless, simply being charged with an assault and/or weapons offenses does not mean a person is guilty. There may be defenses to these charges, depending on the specific facts of the case. Also, as in every criminal case, the person charged is innocent until proven guilty.
