Man arrested in Pennsylvania on felony drug charges

Criminal charges of any kind can have serious repercussions and can negatively impact a person’s personal and professional life. Drug charges in particular can be complex, because different states may have different laws that apply to certain types of drugs.

As some of our readers in Philadelphia may have heard, a man was arrested by Pennsylvania State Police in the afternoon hours of Feb. 15. The man had originally been wanted as part of a felony drug investigation in a neighboring state in December 2012. At that time, the man had allegedly evaded police after being stopped at a parking lot on Dec. 13, 2012. He allegedly crashed his car before escaping into woods near the location of the incident.

The man was apprehended by Pennsylvania troopers after they received an anonymous tip that led them to the vehicle he was driving. His felony drug-related charges stemmed from the discovery of 1 1/2 pounds of bath salts, drug paraphernalia, and marijuana weighing more than a pound during the initial investigation in Orleans County, New York. As of Feb. 18, the man was being held in a county jail in Pennsylvania awaiting federal charges.

Individuals facing serious drug-related charges need to be aware of their legal rights and options. A strong defense can possibly help defendants avoid the more serious consequences associated with their charges. After all, a conviction of a felony drug charge can result in serious consequences that may include significant prison sentences.
