A Philadelphia driver is facing charges related to an incident where he is alleged to have driven the wrong way down a Philly street, striking several vehicles. He will likely face DUI charges and charges for damaging property in connection with this instance.
The incident occurred at around 10:30 p.m. The driver is alleged to have struck the personal car of a police officer, drove the wrong way around a SEPTA bus that was proceeding along the same roadway and continued onto side streets where he struck several other vehicles. When the man stopped his vehicle, police allege that he took off on foot and that he was detained by citizens who reside in the area where the incident took place.
The charges that the man in this incident is facing will be impacted by several factors, including his blood alcohol content level at the time of the alleged accident and whether he submitted to a breath test or refused to take a breath test. In addition, if he is convicted and it is not his first DUI, penalties will likely be far more severe.
Many honest, law-abiding people have been charged with or convicted of a DUI at some point in their lifetime. Individuals who are convicted of charges related to driving while intoxicated may suffer damage to their reputation, difficulty obtaining employment and difficulty gaining admission to institutions of higher education. It is thus imperative that individuals who are facing drunk driving charges know the severity of such a conviction and learn about and exercise their legal rights.
