Philadelphia nun allegedly driving drunk at time of accident

As the holidays approach people in Philadelphia will attend many parties with friends and family. Oftentimes, there is alcohol provided at these parties to help everyone get in the spirit. Most of the time, it simply helps everyone enjoy the festivities, however, if a person consumes too much alcohol, he or she may make decisions they regret later. One of these decisions is to get behind the wheel and drive.

One nun from Philadelphia allegedly made this choice recently. According to police, the nun backed her truck into the front door of an auto body shop around 3 a.m., smashing the door. The police stopped the nun a short distance away. The nun performed field sobriety tests on the side of the road and was later charged with a DUI.

Any person charged with a DUI must go through the criminal justice process. If one is convicted, he or she may face some serious consequences that includes possible jail time, fines, community service or other penalties. In addition to the criminal penalties, they may also lose their license for a period of time. They may also have to use ignition interlock to operate their vehicle for a period of time.

However, people charged with a DUI will only face these penalties if they are convicted. There may be defenses available to people who are charged with a DUI starting with the reason the person was stopped in the first place.

Many people in Philadelphia are charged with DUIs each year. If convicted these people may face serious consequences. However, everyone is innocent until proven guilty and there may be defenses available. Experienced attorneys understand the potential defenses and may be able to protect one's rights.
