Minor criminal juvenile offenses can have unexpected consequences

There are many decisions that young people in Philadelphia make every day without thinking. Many of these decisions are harmless, but some will result in consequences that will stay with them for a long time. Sometimes they know what they are doing is illegal, such as underage drinking, fighting or drug possession, but they do not think that it is a big deal, since they see many people doing the same thing. However, if they are convicted on a charge arising out of these decisions, it can have long-term consequences.

Philadelphia man and two others charged with drug offenses

Drugs are prevalent in Philadelphia. One can find a wide variety of drugs including, but not limited to, marijuana, cocaine, heroin, various prescription drugs and others. There are people who are recreational users as well as people who deal the drugs. People face criminal charges if they are caught, whoever they are. The charges can range from simple possession to intent to distribute charges for those involved in drug dealing. However, simply being charged does not mean a person is guilty. After being charged prosecutors still need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the person is guilty.

Cash rewards for reporting drinking by underage spring breakers

Spring break is just around the corner for the college students in Philadelphia. Many students will be leaving for warm destinations by a beach with their friends. Oftentimes this is a week-long break from school, work and other responsibilities, and alcohol plays a role. Many students are not really concerned with the consequences of what happens on spring break. However, for those who commit crimes, the consequences can come back home with them. A common one is underage drinking, as many students are not 21-years-old.

Man sideswipes a police car and now faces DUI charges

Many people in Philadelphia have been convicted of a DUI or know someone who has been convicted of a DUI. DUIs are treated very seriously by the legislature and the penalties can be very serious even on a first time DUI. That is why many people learn their lesson after their first one and do not get charged or convicted of another one. However, some people are not deterred by a DUI and end up with more than one. Having multiple DUI offenses on a person's record can have substantial consequences in multiple areas of the person's life.
